Does Autodesk Listen to its Users?

I just came across a great post from Steve Johnson discussing a trend that he has seen from AutoCAD users. His post discusses and asks why so many users feel that Autodesk isn't listening to them. Do you have feelings like this? Do you think they do listen? Are they just a giant company with no ears? Or do you feel they go out of the way to try and create a product its users are demanding to have? I've created a poll to help us get an idea of what you think, but polls are difficult to express your opinions in. Soooooo post a comment, tell us what you think.

  1. Yes, I think Autodesk listens to its users. However I think the answers don't appear as quickly as the users would prefer and sometimes the users don't like the answers.

  2. I think you are right. It is difficult for such a large company to talk with 9 million users. I also see it as part of our own responsibility as people using a tool to know about that tool. Carpenters know about new hammers, saws, etc. so should design professionals know about the CAD software they need to do their job. I also see the responsibility of Autodesk to make sure its customers are happy. It goes both ways. If I spend $5000 (approximately) for one license of AutoCAD, trust me, I am going to want to know as much about it as possible. If I only spend $10, then I'm not as worried right? But typical users don't have to pay for their own tools like Carpenters or Mechanics typically do. Imagine if CAD users had to supply their own CAD software? Sounds like a good post topic!
