AutoCAD WS (www.autocadws.com) has had over 410,00 registered users, 430,000 uploaded drawings and was downloaded from the iTunes Store over 560,000 times. Now it is getting an update after eight weeks of service.
AutoCAD WS is a free web based CAD Solution that features real time collaboration amongst shared files. It is browser based and is available as a mobile download for Apples iOS devices.
AutoCAD WS 1.1 will feature offline support. Autodesk stated that this was one of the largest requested features by users. Maybe Autodesk does listen to its customers, even on free products. Of course, if you are not connected, you’ll have to plan ahead and download your files while you have access to the web, but that goes without saying.
Another new feature will be direct file uploads from your device. Users will be able to open an email attached DWG file and upload it to their AutoCAD WS account directly from their device.
Editing, drawing and markup has been enhanced to be more intuitive and more similar to features in “regular” AutoCAD.
AutoCAD WS 1.1 is scheduled to be available in the App Store soon, if not sometime this week.
