The other day I was working in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 when, shockingly, it crashed. The interesting part was that it didn't fully crash the program. Instead it just stopped working. Civil 3D was still there. The file was still opened, but nothing would work. Every time I tried to enter a command, in any way, an error message was displayed:
Unknown Command "whatever the command was". Press F1 for Help.
Strange. No matter what command I tried I received this message. No matter how I tried to enter the command in, via the command line, ribbon, QAT, etc. I received the same message: Unknown Command.
Every time the message would suggest that I press F1 for help. I did. Here is a screen shot of the error message:
I followed AutoCAD Civil 3D's instructions by pressing F1 for help but it said that HELP was an unknown command. Frustrating. So whatever happened at the time evidently it unloaded, or just plain forgot, every command what so ever. In all fairness I didn't try every command I am simply assuming.
Since "every" command ceased to function the EXIT or QUIT commands weren't working either. I couldn't even click on the X in the top right corner to close it. That didn't work either. I had to CTRL+ALT+DELETE and cancel the program. I started it back up again and it functioned just fine.
Just one of those things. I laughed at the HELP Unknown Command thing though.
Ever notice that CTRL+ALT+DELETE and "Computer Aided Design" have the same initials?
When in doubt, reboot!
ReplyDeleteAlways! That fixed it. Until it locked up again!
