Autodesk AutoCAD 2014 Service Pack 1 Released

Autodesk has released Service Pack 1 for AutoCAD 2014.  This service pack can be applied to all supported operating systems and languages.  Note that this does not apply to AutoCAD 2014 for Mac since this version does not exist.  As always before any update, hotfix or service pack please please please read the README file first.  Also make sure you install the proper update.  There are two versions; one for 32-bit and one for 64 bit.  This service pack can be applied to standalone licenses of AutoCAD 2014 or to design suites that contain AutoCAD 2014.

AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT for MAC Service packs for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion now Available

Autodesk has released service packs for AutoCAD for Mac and AutoCAD LT for Mac that will make them both compatible with Apple’s latest version of OS X 10.8, a.k.a. Mountain Lion.  This is great for any Mac user that has updated to Mountain Lion or has been waiting for Autodesk to update to Mountain Lion.  Mountain Lion was available for download in July so this update to AutoCAD is a welcomed one.  The service pack also addresses some bugs and other issues as well.

Autodesk Removes Inventor 2013 SP1 just days after it is Posted

Autodesk has removed their Inventor 2013 SP1 patch just days after it was posted.  The entire page containing the download file seems to have been removed.  Evidently SP1 was “taken down this morning due to an unforeseen memory management regression” per Chris Mitchell’s (Autodesk Inventor Quality Assurance Team) post in the Inventor Forums.

He goes on to say “It will be re-posted shortly. If you have already installed SP1 & are experiencing random instability you can uninstall it & wait for the updated version; otherwise you can leave it as-is & add the hotfix once it is released.”

Autodesk Releases then Retracts SP1 for AutoCAD 2013

Earlier this week Autodesk released SP1 (Service Pack 1) for AutoCAD 2013.  Now it has been removed.  According to Autodesk’s Services and Support website the service pack was taken down temporarily because a “newly discovered fatal error” was found.  OOPS!!!

Autodesk is working on it, feverishly I would imagine, and hopes to have a new Service Pack posted soon.

Question; Will this service pack be Service Pack 1A or Service Pack 2?  Maybe Service Pack 1.1.  Maybe it will be Service Pack 1 Service Pack 1.

We will have to wait and see.

Autodesk Updates the Update ReadMe

Autodesk pushed out an AutoCAD 2012 and AutoCAD LT 2012 Service Pack (See our post about it here).  Today they updated the Readme files for each Service Pack.  Previously the Readme did not list what was updated, changed, fixed, repaired, patched, etc.  Now they do.  The list is long but there seems to be a recurring theme among many of the fixes.  Many of the fixes start off with this phrase:

“AutoCAD may become unstable after (when or while)…”

It seems that this service pack fixes many stability issues, which is good.  There are few worse things than having to work in an unstable software program.

Check out the full Service Pack 2 readme file here for a full list of what issues were addressed.

AutoCAD 2012 and AutoCAD LT 2012 Service Pack 2 Released

If you are running AutoCAD 2012 or AutoCAD LT 2012 there is a new Service Pack now available for download and installation.

AutoCAD 2012 Service Pack 2

AutoCAD LT 2012 Service Pack 2

Both service packs have a 32-bit and 64-vit version so make sure you download the proper one.  If you aren’t sure which one you need you can always use the Autodesk Exchange Live Update Maintenance Patch to show you which service pack you need.

Here is a link to the English Readme file for this installation.

AutoCAD 2009 - Service Pack 1 (it's about time!)

Autodesk has released Service Pack 1 (or SP1) for AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, and other products.

I know that many CAD-a-Blog readers have discussed issues with the FIND command and its lack of "zoom to" features. Essentially when you used the FIND command, and did a "zoom to", then closed the find command, your screen would return to a previous state, and not on the object you zoomed to. Well, this service pack fixes that, even though it isn't stated in the README file. So, rest assured that this feature now works properly!!

To get the file, go to this Autodesk Service and Support page. The download and instructions are there. Make sure you read the README file. It will tell you what has been updated, how to install it, how to uninstall it (you never know), and more.

Here is a partial list of topics that were updated in this patch:
  • 3D Visual Styles
  • Annotation Scaling
  • External References (xref) palette
  • Raster Images
  • Partial Open
  • Plot
  • Properties Palette
  • Hatch
  • Remote text (rtext)

General Updates

The following defects have also been fixed:

.NET API

Annotation Scaling

Attributes

Blocks

Export a Layout to Model Space

When you export a layout to model space the following occurs:

External Reference ESW

Hatch

Hide/Shade

Menu Browser

Multileader (mleader)

Multiline Text (mtext)

Open/Save

Partial Open

Plot

Property Palette

Publish

Quick Properties

RECOVER

Render

Ribbon

Visual LISP

ZOOM

I hope this helps you out with your AutoCAD 2009 experience.
