Autodesk has released an update for the mobile versions of their free CAD program AutoCAD WS.

AutoCAD WS 1.6 is now available for iOS and Android.
This new version enhances and adds new gesture-based editing features. These new features allow for grip like edits and handles that can be used to move, scale and/or rotate objects. These new gesture-based features do make working with the app a bit easier. So far I like this new update. Autodesk has also modified some of the tools (not sure which ones) to provide a “faster, more accurate design experience on mobile devices” according to the AutoCAD WS blog. AutoCAD WS 1.6 for iOS adds support for the Apple iPhone 5’s larger screen size. Autodesk says that AutoCAD WS 1.6 “delivers improved performance across the board.”
I have to say that it does appear to have a higher performance rate than before. I haven’t fully tested the iOS version yet, but seeing the performance improvements in Android, I fully expect the iOS version to be better than before too. The gesture-based grip editing is very easy to use. Simply select an object and the grips are there on the screen. “Click” one and drag it to change the object.
