IMSI/Design announces TurboSite, a mobile solution in field and site survey visits
IMSI Design has had a natural progression with their mobile applications. They started with a series of viewers and followed up with a markup app. Now IMSI/Design is taking things to the next level. TurboSite is IMSI/Design’s approach to taking full advantage of the mobility and tools built inside tablets, like Apple’s iPad. They are using the hardware built within; cameras, microphones, accelerometers, GPS, Wi-Fi, and long battery life. They are using these tools to create a software platform that can ultimately save time and effort during field visits.

IMSI/Design announced today the release of their latest mobile app, TurboReview. IMSI also makes TurboViewer CAD file viewer app for iOS and Android as well as TurboCAD, a full-fledged 3D and 2D CAD modeling platform. TurboReview is a mobile app available on iOS only. An Android version is currently in development and will eventually be available. IMSI did this with their other mobile apps, iOS first, then Android.

IMSI Design has released TurboViewer Pro for Android
IMSI Design has three versions of their TurboViewer mobile app. The free version is TurboViewer. The midrange version is TurboViewer X ($3.99 U.S.D.). The TurboViewer Pro version goes for $9.99 (U.S.D.) Each version adds functionality to the next. (See our post on TurboViewer and TurboViewer X.)
TurboViewer Pro has all of the abilities of TurboViewer X and more.
TurboViewer Pro adds:
- Model Space Viewing
- Visual Styles: wireframe, hidden, x-ray, shaded, shaded with edges
- Layer Display Controls (on/off/invert/all visible/invisible)
- Autosenses 2D or 3D drawings
- Online Wiki Help
- Send DWG and DXF files via email
- View DWG and DXF files from the web, FTP, Dropbox and WebDAV
- Instant full screen preview while drawing is still loading
- Save time with the ability to cancel a file during load
- Restore saved AutoCAD® Views to quickly display the best visions of your design
- Supports AutoCAD linetypes to maintain visual fidelity as intended
These additional functions make the Pro version of TurboViewer for Android more appealing than the lower end versions. The ability to send files and open files via the web is kind of the point to mobile devices. Add on to that the ability to view 3D files with different visual styles and it makes the price worth it. The app works well and is easy to use.
CAD-a-Blog.com recommends this app.

IMSI Design First to 3D DWG Viewing on Android
IMSI Design announced today that their popular CAD Viewer application TurboViewer is now available on the Android Platform. IMSI Design released two versions of TurboViewer; TurboViewer (free version) and TurboViewer X ($3.99 U.S.) IMSI’s Turboviewer for iOS was named one of the Top 5 apps in the iOS world by Macworld/iWorld.
The Android versions match the iOS versions in abilities. They support native 2D and 3D .DWG and .DXF viewing, smooth multi touch navigation for panning, zooming and orbits. Offline file support, ability to restore saved views, full screen previews and more.
TurboViewer and TurboViewer X are about the same in functionality. TurboViewer Free is, well, free. It is supported by adds. TurboViewer X has no adds. Both read DWG and DFX files. Files can be viewed via web downloads, FTP, Dropbox®, WebDAV, through email attachment, and several cloud based storage systems. There is an online Wiki help if you get stuck using the app. TurboViewer X adds more features to the mix. Besides having no adds, it has a layer visibility manager.
