Autodesk has released another free iPad design app. This time it is their Homestyler home design software. Homestyler has been around since 2010 as a browser based program. This program provides a 2D or 3D design tool that helps in interior design and floor layout. Contractors can use it for remodels, architects can use it to quickly generate a floor plan, and interior decorators can choose from a multitude of commercially available appliances, furniture, doors, windows, and other finishing touches in a range of colors and designs.
Homestyler allows for real time design that can blend high-quality 3D models from popular products. It is very simple to use and is now an iPad app. This is a great platform for this type of design tool. Designers can take their iPad to a client meeting or on the job site and quickly generate a design plan. One of the great benefits to using Homestyler is the fact that users can access a library of design items that actually exist in the real world.
“ We've taken home design to a new level of ease with the Homestyler app for iPad. The app is unique because it can transform a single snapshot into a virtual home design playground,” said Samir Hanna, vice president of Consumer Products at Autodesk. “Extending this technology on iPad lets our users express their creativity on the go, tap the existing vibrant community to find inspiration for their home and showcase their personal style with greater ease than ever before.”
“The Homestyler app lets users tap into more than 1,500 Sherwin-Williams colors for inspiration as they create their perfect space," says Jackie Jordan, director of color marketing, Sherwin-Williams. "Color is a critical element of design, and the new iPad app is a great way to explore the impact of different hues and the relationship between wall colors and furnishings."
